The people of Costa Rica are on fire for the Lord.

Since being here, I’ve seen His glory and movement in every corner. From our daily ministry to a conversation at the local corner store, the Spirit dwells here among the people. Days before entering the country I knew we weren’t coming to share this unknown gospel to the locals, but instead was entering in as a partner to the revival already taking place.

Only a few days in my team was walking home from base and noticed a group gathering in the yard – a very common thing here at Abraham’s Project. Not thinking much of it we came inside and prepared for dinner and team time. Soon after a knock came at the door and we were met by two friendly smiles and an invite to join a worship session out back.

Having not talked to many people this was exciting! Mask in hand and open hearts, we met a small community of worshipers.

Iglesia El Es :: Church, He Is.

A small church community that began several months ago. They meet in whatever area is available: usually a space at Abraham’s Project where we are currently staying.

Every other Monday they have corporate worship with a group of about 10-20 people (following all CDC guidelines) and their church group meets in the sanctuary every Saturday evening for a word, worship, and community.

This first night was beautiful song and praise in both Spanish and English, as all us strangers pressed in close to the Father as one. Walking across the lawn that night I felt full and at peace. This night also holds a special place in my heart as it helped the team reclaim the space we were staying in.

After connecting to some of the leadership we were invited to their main church service on Saturday night.

More worship, connection, and tender relationships. It’s ministries like this that give me hope for our world and generation. I sense revival and true, authentic love. I know it is through this movement that people will come to know the love of God and build a deeply rooted biblical community.

When coming into a new country with completely new surroundings, this night made me and my team feel so welcomed. A people of intentionality who pursue inclusivity and unity

Just another example of how love has no barriers. We don’t have to sing or speak the same language to worship the Father together, simply a love and reverence for Christ.

I highly encourage you to look them up and check out this ministry! What an honor to have a home church when so many miles away from the States!

  4. This was a very ‘real’ event for all of you who attended; you are all making note of the inclusivity, unity and moving of the Holy Spirit you felt when asked to be a part of the worship. I too think there is revival stirring, a desire for the authentic love of the Father, a heart for Jesus and no barriers.

  5. SO much revival here! You can feel it in the air! Thanks for reading Matt! Gad D misses you
