Holy Spirit rain

Falling like a flood

Break upon my praise

As I sing of Your Love

-Open Heaven by Hillsong Worship

today, just like every day this week, we received a down pour of rain! and let me tell you, it’s my favorite time of day.

every where in literature, rain symbolizes the worst of things. sadness, despair, heart break, etc. and yet, in SCRIPTURE, rain represents something so beautiful. purification ! renewal ! growth ! and i just love that the Lord takes despair in our lives and creates something new within each of His children.

these past few months i have really been asking the Lord to pour out His spirit on His people, including me. bring it like a flood ! bring on the storm !

maybe it seems to odd to pray FOR a storm, don’t we pray against those? avoid those?

but here’s the thing, its in the storms we create resilience, strength, and the most notable lessons of our life. so yeah, i’m praying for the storm ! and when we enter in we have the Lord’s guidance and wisdom leading the way right through it.

here are two revelations the Lord brought with today’s storm:

  1. WE ARE HIS GARDEN! if we are to thrive, grow, and receive any nourishment at all, we need the rain! so lets welcome it as the body of Christ to become the well watered garden that the Lord has purposed us for !
  2. the rain establishes His REIGN ! yalllllll the play on words ! yes it’s silly but how powerful !?! i just love to reflect on the power that God has. He creates the rain, the trees, the mountains, the seas! THAT GOD is the SAME GOD who loves and cares for us. and i believe its in the natural beauty of things like thunder storms that reveal His true reign and power. lets sit in reverence to that reign !

so, that’s my word for you today! i pray that in your current storm (or clear skies 🙂 ) you are able to cling to His good news and grace ! let Him walk you through this !

all the love,

gretchen !

“They will be like a well watered garden, and they will sorrow no more.” – Jeremiah 31:12

  1. WOW!!! That was just great. I had never thought about rain in that way. I will certainly remember that the next time it rains and I start to complain. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

May God continue to walk by your side and give you the words that will touch someone’s life.

Your S.C. family love you very much.
